Supporting the Local Community
The Department for Education have provided a grant for North Lincolnshire Council to deliver the Fuelled Holiday, Activity and Food (HAF) programme to young people eligible for benefits related free school meals. During the Easter, summer and winter school holidays over 40 providers will be offering a range of free activities for eligible young children across North Lincolnshire.
All Fuelled activities will provide young people with the opportunity to get involved in physical activity and everyone will be provided with a free healthy meal at each activity.
‘Diversion schemes’ are police-led programmes that divert people caught committing minor offences away from the criminal justice system, to other measures instead.
The Junior Apprentice Challenge was launched in May by Lindsey Lodge. This is a spin-off of the TV programme 'The Apprentice'. Young entrepreneurs were set the challenge of raising as much money as possible within 30days starting with £50 per group. Each group had come up with their own plan to grow their funds and all moneys raised were to support Lindsey Lodge with bereavement counselling and end of life care. The initial moneys came from entrepreneur Nichola Threadgold.
We had three groups sign up to the challenge, a formal contract was signed by each group leader. One group raised money by doing car washes, one group raised money by selling sweets and doing a cash raffle at the mini bike championship weekend held at the school and the final group raised money by making planters out of decking timber, these were sold in various places including the Lindsey lodge car boot and charity shop.
Over £1000 was raised for Lindsey Lodge by all groups.
