After School Club

What are after-school clubs?

After-school clubs are opportunities for children to engage in extra-curricular activities at the end of school. Schools centre after-school clubs around a wide range of opportunities, such as:

  • sports

  • outdoor activities, such as gardening or Forest School

  • skills and activities, such as coding

  • hobbies and crafts

  • academic boost sessions

What are the benefits?

  • Give students access to activities they might not otherwise have. After-school clubs based at school allow students to take part in activities that might otherwise be too costly in time or money for families to afford.

  • Allow students to experience a range of new experiences.

  • Boost confidence and self-esteem.

  • Support physical health and development. Sports and other activities gave students the opportunity to develop physically and experience more physical activity.

  • Help students develop social skills and friendships.

  • Improved changes in behaviour.
